PRR Lancaster Excursion, #2 of 10, 1965
Excursion. Here is an original photo that I took in Frankstown, Pennsylvania, just after noon on 17 October 1965. Shown at the left (L to R) is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #5898 and three more units whose road numbers are not recorded. All are EP-22's built by GM-EMD and rated at 2,500 horsepower each. #5898 was constructed in March of 1951. They're pulling the "Horseshoe Curve Excursion" ~ sponsored by the Lancaster Chapter of the National Railway Historical Society ~ into the Hollidaysburg Yards, prior to stopping at the PRR's Samuel Rea Shop for excursion passengers to take guided tours of the facility. (#2 of 10)
